Orangery
Orangeries were an important feature of royal gardens in the 18th and 19th centuries. Ludwigsburg's collection and display of Mediterranean plants was famous well beyond the borders of the land. As well as demonstrating an interest in botany and collectors' zeal, the orangery symbolised a love of splendour and openness towards the rest of the world.
The orangery at the edge of the avenue of plane trees is in keeping with this tradition. Colourful floral displays and art exhibitions offer varied attractions throughout the season.
